Who is Digital Light and Illusions?

My name is Tom Newberry and I'm a local photographer in Columbus, Ohio working under the name of Digital Light and Illusions, or DLIphoto,

  This site has three purposes:

1) To display  some of my work looking for assignments with/for:
       Advertising agencies,
       Companies and Individuals needing photography services.
       Corporate events and private parties.
       Weddings. Bar Mitzvahs. Graduation Parties. Company Parties.
       Custom Portraits.
       Glamour (Boudoir) Photos. (Discreet and private...never posted to web.)
       Headshots for advertising/promotion.
          I have special lighting setups just for headshots. See also 'Actor Headshots' under Modeling 101.
       Sport Teams, Sporting Events.
       Custom home interiors/exteriors for REALTORS® or home owners.
       Studio or Location.

2)  To showcase  some of the models that I've shot with in hopes that you will find a place for them in your advertising or company brochures, and/or in-house productions. Some models will do promotional work at trade fairs and company events. Please contact us for details.

3)  To Promote  services to individuals looking for:
       Prints,   albums,   portfolios,   comp cards,
       Web photos, and other promotional photos.
       Individuals wanting to step up their On-Line Dating or Web sites.
       Studio or Location.

My past experience covers a total of over 20 years in glamour, portrait, commercial, and editorial photography; this included over 20 years of marketing and advertising experience. I then changed careers for nearly 20 years which took me away from professional photography. I returned to my true love, photography, about 5 years ago and I have been learning digital techniques and rebuilding my portfolio, concentrating mainly on headshots, glamour, fashion, promotion, and Virtual Imagery photography-360º×360º; examples of which can be seen on this site, DLIphoto.com. Just over the last 5 years I have photographed over 250 models/actors in about 450 sessions.

I use a professional Nikon single lens reflex digital camera, professional studio strobes, softbox, diffusers, reflectors and filters of different types to get the effects we want.

Studio ...  

I work from a small apt studio in what I call the smallest 'studio' in the world.  It is a very informal, relaxed atmosphere, but most importantly, it works. I have photographed many professional as well as new models here. Examples are all of the studio shots on this website. Not to mention the shots that look like location and may really be studio...reason.. I don't live near the ocean, and it gives me more control over weather and lighting. 

The models are comfortable and the low overhead allows me to keep my rates low.

Location ...

Location shoots are can be done in your home or other location. There is an extra charge for location shoots depending on what equipment I need to lug around and how far from the studio I need to travel and if I need an assistant.  Simple location shoots should add about $50. to the shoot.

Make-Up and Hair Styling and Wardrobe....

Subjects are free to bring thier own stylists and make-up artists and wardrobe consultant, or we can provide them. If we provde these services, they are extra and the cost is passed on to the subject. The subject may also do their own.
